Signal was one verb
Why this site's big idea changed from "signal over noise" to "I build AI to get things done."
When I rebuilt this site, I built it around one idea: signal over noise. It was true. It was also too narrow, and a little too science-y. It made me sound like someone who only stares at data until it gives something up.
Finding the signal is one thing I do. It isn’t the whole job. When I looked at what I’ve actually built, most of it wasn’t about finding anything. It was about getting something done for someone.
So the big idea is simpler now: I build AI to get things done. Signal over noise didn’t go anywhere. It became one of five verbs:
- Find. Pull insight out of messy data: contract triage for Accenture, what 114,000 songs sound like, decision tree vs neural network.
- Answer. Inform people with grounded answers: a RAG chatbot on the Claude API.
- Simplify. Make life easier: CleanTube.
- Anticipate. Act before you have to ask. This one is next: an autonomous data analyst agent I’m building in my November and December sprint. It’s marked
[next]until it’s real. - Delight. Do cool things: this site, with a lofi loop generated live in your browser and a latent-space map of my projects.
“Done” is the word that ties it together. Finished projects are marked [done]. The loading screen trains until the target is done. The homepage dictionary defines it as the only status that counts.
